Gatsby in Space
On a dark and desolate planet, resided a boy named Jay Gatsby, who collected scraps to get by, and hardly had anything of value. One day, he encounters a girl, as pure as white, the most beautiful creature he ever laid eyes on. After some speculation, he finds her name is Daisy she comes from "The greeen Planet", rich, and preserved, with no pollution, but to his dismay, he learns Daisy is only visiting his planet, and she would soon be leaving after a few months. Even though Jay and Daisy's lives were very different from one another, they were pulled together by an attraction that neither of them could resist. They made their own paradise in the middle of their desolate surroundings. Under the glow of the constellations, barely visible due to the smog, Jay's humble home turned into an escape where they could share fantasies and secrets and leave reality, even if it was for a fragment of time. When it came time to part ways, Gatsby promised Daisy he would go after her, no matter where she was in the cosmos.
Fueled by love, Gatsby was determined to sway his future, he was determined to make something of himself so he could pursue Daisy. With determination, and by pulling a few strings here and there, Gatsby joined an agency that fosters Astronauts, and made his first journey to Daisy's planet, in hopes of reuniting and reliving his months with her when they first met. He asks for the help of her distant cousin, Nick (whom he had gotten to know after a few days of stalking) to reunite them but is heartbroken when Nick tells him Daisy is wed to a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan.
Jay came to the disappointing conclusion that Daisy had slipped away from him, and at the end of the day was not worth his time, and effort. Gatsby forgets Daisy and takes comfort in Nick's arms, who had been by his side since his time on the green planet. Shortly, both of them felt a spark, and they embraced their love for each other and lived happily ever after, eventually moving to a planet called "Lumina".

ReplyDeleteI love how you create a similar story line to that of the Great Gatsby but put you own twist on how life could've been between the 2 of them, as well as the commonly suspected love between Nick and Gatsby. I also love how you named Daisy's planet as the "green planet" it ties the story together well! Great Job!
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the motif of the green light in your fanfic.- Aly Matuza
ReplyDeleteI love the plot twist at the end. Very different from the actual story and was really surprising. -Sarah Naga
