Dance Off: Putin vs. Zelensky

I read the article "Ukrainian President Challenges Putin to a Dance Battle at Peace Summit" where Zelensky says to Putin, "If you want peace, if you want an end to this intractable conflict, then get your ass up off that dais, get down here on the floor, and get that booty clapping!" Putin then goes on to "spray a powerful nerve agent directly in Zelensky’s face, causing him to collapse to the ground and convulse uncontrollably." After reading the article I thought that it was pretty funny, especially because of their word choice. I also noticed the absurdity of attempting to resolve such a serious conflict with a dance battle. This proposal to solve the conflict through a dance battle mocks those who have the power to resolve the conflict in real life for choosing to try to "solve" the conflict through means up to par with a dance battle. It makes us readers think what good does Dance Battle do? Maybe it can solve middle school banters but a war? Not a chance. This mocking tone is progressively established till the end, when the dance battle, which was supposed to be a  "solution" only makes the situation worse when Zelensky ends up collapsing due to Putin spraying something on him. This ending serves to comment on the inefficiency of the measures taken by officials. In developing the mocking tone, it critiques the situation and addresses the serious situation through a lighthearted made-up situation. I thought it did a pretty good job of bringing forward its points. It was brief, but it made its point clear.
